Conference to address human resource issues

Specialists in California labor laws and regulations will lead discussions of management issues at the upcoming Human Resource Conference set for June 19 and 20 in Monterey, California.

The third annual event will address current issues facing agribusiness in the area of human resource management and labor relations. Included among the scheduled speakers is California Attorney General Dan Lungren. Other slated to lead discussions are Ron Mazzoli, former congressman from Kentucky and co-author of 1986 immigration legislation; and Lloyd Aubry Jr., director of the Department of Industrial Relations for California.

An assortment of topics will be addressed over the two-day conference, including maintaining an effective safety program; managing supervisors; legally reducing your work force; a mock termination hearing; creating an effective employee handbook; dealing with workers compensation reform; and implementing total quality management in an agricultural organizations.

Sponsors of the conference include Agricultural Producers, and CSU, Fresno's California Agricultural Technology Institute and Center for Agricultural Business.
