Student Involvement
|
The CFSNR invites both undergraduate and
graduate level students to seek research opportunities through the center.
Financial support for research is available in the form of grants and
employment contracts, from both public and private
sources, including the California Agricultural Technology Institute
(CATI). Contact the CFSNR at (559) 278-5924 for more information.

Karla Carlson is a graduate student at
California State University, Fresno. She developed
a standardized recipe and conducted several phases of consumer preference
tests for a salsa to be produced at the university's new Food Processing
Research
Laboratory. Karla teaches an introductory computer course and plans
to finish her master's work in May of 1997.
Ernesto Duran is a graduate student working
on scaling-up the bench-top salsa project into a pilot-sized project. The
salsa is to be
produced at the university's new Food Processing Research Laboratory.
Following production, Ernesto will conduct shelf-life microbial and
quality studies to ensure a high quality product. He plans to finish his
graduate
work in the summer of 1997.
