Linda Lopez holds the position of Executive
Assistant for CATI. Linda has been with the University and CATI
since 1985. She is responsible for administrative leadership and
organizational unit planning activities of the department; all aspects
of ARI and master grant pre and post award activities and budgets;
personnel/human resources activities and is responsible for the
day-to-day administrative and budget/accounting operations of the
department. She serves as the assistant to the executive director
and as a liason to the ARI Board of Directors, ARI Deans' Council and
ARI member campuses. |

Thelma Howse
holds the position of Accounting Manager at CATI. Thelma joined the
team at CATI in May 2005. She and her husband returned to the central
California area after many years spent in both Montana and Nevada. She
brings many years of accounting experience to CATI working for both
State and County governments. The most relevant experience to her
current CATI position was as the Federal Grant Accountant working for
the State of Montana Dept. of Fish, Wildlife & Parks. In her position
she is responsible for the budget and accounting for CATI, ARI, and CDFA
accounts.

Carrie Irby holds the position of Administrative
Support and Events Coordinator for CATI. She is also the
Center
Representative for CATI / ARI / CDFA-SCG Research Projects.
Carrie joined CATI in March of 2002. She has been with the university
since 1991. Carrie is responsible for a wide range of varied and
complex administrative management and support duties, research project
grant and contract administrative oversight; assisting faculty research
scientists with project administration, document preparation and
processing; and serves CATI and ARI as event coordinator for special
events, workshops and conferences.
Carrie occupies her free time by playing with her granddaughter,
grandson and pet/dog companion, volunteering for prison ministries,
vacationing at the coast, bird watching, and enjoying the beauty of
God's creations.

Susan Foote holds the position of
administrative support assistant. Under the supervision from the
executive assistant to the director of operations/executive director of
the California Agricultural Technology Institute (CATI)/California State
University Agricultural Research Initiative (ARI), Susan works
independently to provide general and intermediate administrative support
and coordination for CATI/ARI programs. Prior to accepting this
position in October 2002, Susan was employed for twenty-two years with a
local non-profit organization. Its purpose is to protect and promote
agricultural interests and find solutions to the problems facing the
agricultural and agribusiness community. She brought with her a
background of extensive agricultural experience and knowledge. Susan
earned her Bachelor of Science degree from CSU, Fresno.

Steve Olson holds the position of Publications
Editor for CATI. Steve oversees the dissemination of CATI and ARI
research results through a variety of print publications. He obtained
his bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Fresno Pacific
University in 1973, a teaching credential in 1975, and a master’s in
nonfiction writing from Fresno State in 1984. He served a two-year term
of Christian service as an elementary school teacher in Bolivia, South
America, from 1975-77. He worked in the journalism profession from 1984
through 1989, holding the position of agricultural editor for the
Turlock Journal from 1987-1989. He joined the CATI staff in 1989 as a
contributing editor and has served as publications editor since 1992. He
enjoys recreational bicycle riding, camping, hiking, rock climbing,
music, sports, and sometimes reading, in his spare time.

John Norton holds the postition of
publications assistant at CATI. Born and raised in Hanford,
California, John attained a degree in Business Administration from
California State University, Fresno in 2004. Along the way, he found
employment at CATI as a publications assistant, eventually moving his
area of expertise from print to the web. John currently designs and
maintains websites for CATI and other on-campus organizations, as well
as agriculture-related industry partners.

James Robinson is the Systems Administrator for ATI-Net, the
technology support unit for CATI. He joined CATI in November of 2005 after
serving as an Instructional Computing Consultant for the College of Agricultural
Science and Technology for over 6 years. He graduated with a dual major in
Agricultural Economics and Plant Science from California State University, Fresno
in 2000. His primary duties include the daily maintenace of CATI’s network and server
systems. He also provides technical support to all of CATI’s units and its affiliates
as his time allows. He strives to help others use technology to improve their
efficiency and improve the quality of research support for CATI. |

Paul Scott holds the position of
Programmer/Analyst at ATI-Net. He joined CATI in 1999 while a student in
the Computer Science department at California State University, Fresno.
Paul graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science in 2003.

Amanda Schott joined the CATI team as a Student Assistant
in December of 2005. Under the supervision of Susan Foote she is
responsible for reception, processing, filing and various other
projects. She is a Culinology major at Fresno State and plans to
graduate with her Bachelors in 2009. After graduation she intends to
attend culinary school and begin a career in the Food Industry.

Lisa Lapsley holds the position of administrative
student assistant for CATI. Under the supervision of Thelma Howse, Lisa
provides a wide range of support for CATI including day-to-day office
duties, equipment logging, and several special projects that require
Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and FrontPage. Lisa has been employed by CATI since May 2006. She
is currently in the Nursing Program at CSU, Fresno and will graduate
Fall of 2009.
She plans to further her education at either UC San Francisco or UCLA and specialize in pediatric oncology
as a nurse practitioner.
